People making lists…

Alright ladies and gents, it’s time for a proper blog post. Just to update you for what’s going to happen to the blog. I know I haven’t been doing my blogging duties these past few months LOADS of MUSIC coming in and there’s so little to no time to even say something about a track.

So it’s a little more than 2 weeks till the month and year is over so I’m making my final playlist for the year. To be fair, this will contain 30 outstanding tracks this amazing year has heard. I’ll put up the compilation for download with semi-commentaries on each track and this will be available for an unlimited time.

I’m sure a lot of you have been making your lists on who’s the best and the hottest this year and I think we may agree to some or most of them right? Rest assured this is a promise and I’m really putting in my full effort on this final project of the year. Be sure to check the blog on DECEMBER 26th, 2010 12AM GMT for the complete list.

State Of The Blog Address.

As you may all have noticed by now, I haven’t been able to do my blogging duties since August started. Well, it’s quite understandable because I’m in my most crucial year at university. Moreover, next year (my final year) will be tighter than ever. Anyway, the blog posts on HIATUS certainly isn’t part of my plan and as much as I can, I kept myself up to date about what’s hot in the music business. But unfortunately, I haven’t been able to translate any of my thoughts into writing.

So here’s what’s going to happen. I’m still going to post sporadically but I’m not sure if I can take any PR requests at the moment. Chart updates are discontinued as well as regular album reviews, single reviews or even the DAILY BEAT. Well, if I find anything interesting to post and I have time to do it then why not?

So basically that’s it. The MONTHLY playlist will still be published monthly (anytime of the month) and links will be uploaded to the blog’s tumblr account.

If you have any questions, requests that I can attend to – PLEASE feel free to hit me on the blog’s email.

Under Crisis

As you all know, my country is in the midst of an unexpected crisis. The Philippines has been struck by a typhoon last Saturday. It was one of the WORST calamities our country has experienced over this year. Due to that, many people have been evacuated from their homes and worst, over 100 people have already died and there are massive amounts of persons still missing. As of now, my city has been proclaimed as one of those under the state of Calamity. Fortunately, my family and I are very far from the incident thus we are absolutely safe. If I’m not, I won’t be able to blog about this.

Having said that, I’m still posting in the blog. But unfortunately, there are some things I have to consider. I’ll be posting sporadically for the next few days until I get together myself or until there has been a stable condition out there. My deepest thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this calamity.

For those who are able to read this and are not from the Philippines, please consider including everyone who have been affected in your prayers. This would be of great help as we stand together to rise from this catastrophic time.

Goodbye, Keisha.

It’s official. As much as we don’t want it to happen (at least, most of you), Keisha Buchanan has officially left The UK pop group, Sugababes. She is being replaced by Eurovision flop, Jade Ewen.
The 24 year-old Keisha, was the only original Sugababe member in the group until she decided to leave the band. Although Keisha left the band, she still remains signed at the Island Records as a solo artist. Official reports say.

Jade Ewen, who releases her debut single yesterday “My Man” is officially joining the group alongside Heidi Range, who joined 2001 and Amelle Berrabah who replaced Mutya Buena when the latter departed back in 2005.

It seems it has been a shock to many as Amelle was reportedly the one quitting the group following reports that Keisha Buchanan was bullying her. The former eventually clarified the allegations stating in an interview that the latter doesn’t have anything to do with her M.I.A (missing in action) in the past few weeks.

Although Keisha left, the band will still release their seventh studio album, “Sweet 7” on November 23, 2009 alongside their newest member, Jade Ewen.

Let’s give a bit of information on how the girls started.

2000 – the girls released their debut single “Overload” with Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy as official members. The single peaked inside the top 10 in the UK singles charts and even received a Brit Award nomination for “Best British Single”.

2001 – Siobhan Donaghy officially left the band and started her own solo career.

2001 – Heidi Range officially joined the group

2002 – the girls released album number two, “Angels With Dirty Faces” and produced two UK number 1 singles.

2003 – the girls released album number three, “Three”.

2005 – the girls released album number four, “Taller In More Ways”. Mutya Buena left the group and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah

2007 – the girls released studio album number five, “Change”. It’s the first album that featured Amelle on all songs. It produced a number one hit, “About You Now”.

2008 – the girls released their 6th studio album, “Catfights and Spotlights”. It received the lowest amount of certification only settling for a silver certification by the British Phonographic Industry

2009 – Keisha Buchanan left the group after the girls released their latest single, “Get Sexy”. Their album, “Sweet 7” is slated for a November release.

That’s it. Goodbye Keisha, we’ll miss you.

The Saturdays delve into Photoshop business (as always)

First of all, I think everyone (except for a few) is digging the new Saturdays’ song, “Forever Is Over”. It’s not out until October 5th yet it’s creating copious amounts of feedback from pop music lovers. The video has leaked last weekend and it proved to be an absolute stunner. But the thing is, the single cover doesn’t correlate with the idea of what we loved about the girls. For the nth time, whoever designed the covers absolutely made use of Photoshop extensively with this art work. For the first time, we don’t see colour coded outfits (or at least something) from each of the girls. Hence, the result was a tragic epic blandness presented all over the place. There’s no sense of emotion floating around the girls’ smerky faces isn’t it? Looks like they’re all itsy bitsy happy about themselves, don’t they? Anyhow, let’s wait and see what the outcome of their comeback single will be. Just ignore the cover, please.

Leona and JT brought me down

Well, it’s when Leona and JT crossed paths and decided to do something together (not in an uncomfortable way or whatsoever.). Well, the result is a shear unpolished tune with a boring theme. In a way it resembles “Run” inflicted with elements from Rihanna’s “Rehab”. Of course, there’s no JT vocals showing up in the song but he might actually be in the song when it is included in Leona’s sophomore LP to be released this October – November.

“Don’t Let Me Down” is a contributed effort from the British songstress, Jessica Biel’s pet and Timbaland. The song has a signature complement coming from past Timbaland artworks. It has a melodramatic theme with Leona singing about taking up the challenge of being together. It’s kind of sweet but not really your kind of sugar coated pop track. I’m quite scared about the outcome of her second LP if there’s loads of tracks with this kind of pace. It’s not really that impressing but let’s see if there’s more to Leona’s material in the future.

Just search YouTube if I were you. :D You’ll find it fo’ sho.

A day (about 45 minutes) to remember…

Alas, after decades of waiting and waiting (not really). British girl group, The Saturdays came for a 2 day tour in my home country, The Philippines. It was kind of a short showcase but it was fun (for most parts). I’m kind of pissed about me having my own personal dilemmas that resulted in discrepancies in finally meeting them face to face. I unfortunately forgot to bring a digital camera to capture the most clear moments about the girls’ gallivanting here in Manila. It was kind of unfair cause you have to buy their CD on that moment to have it autographed by the lovely girls. Thanks to my friend, I was able to capture bits of the 45-minute greatness.

Of course, the girls looked stunning with their carefully selected coloured outfits. They sing their tunes with fierce, glamour and of course majestic vocals. They’re absolutely a treat to the senses especially Frankie and Mollie. LOL.

Setlist:
1. If This Is Love
2. Keep Her
3. Just Can’t Get Enough
4. Chasing Lights (Acoustic Version) – BRILLIANT version BTW.
5. Issues
6. Work
7. Up

* I’m not sure about the arrangement of the songs but I must tell, this is not going to be my first and last encounter with the girls. More to come.

(For Residents of The Philippines only) FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T WATCHED THE GIRLS, they will be at SM Megamall tomorrow at around 5 pm? Catch them LIVE bitches! :D

Check out the review of The girls’ debut album HERE. (forgive me for the writing, I’m a newbie there. LOL)
