UK Charts: X Factor finalists beats Girls Aloud

X Factor 2008 finalists defeated Girls Aloud in the race for #1 in the UK Singles charts selling for 300,000+ copies with a Mariah Carey cover “Hero”. Proceeds of the single will go to a charity to support British soldiers.

Girls Aloud’s “The Promise” settles for #2 after just 1 week while Pink slips a notch to #3 with “So What”.

Kings of Leon, Katy Perry and The Saturdays all stepped down a spot with their previous places #5, #6, #7 respectively.

Notable gains in the charts included the official oo7 theme, “Another Way To Die” – a duet by Jack White & Alicia Keys which jumped 8 places to #10.

Meanwhile, in the albums chart P!nk debuts at #1 with “Funhouse” besting Snow Patrol’s newest LP “A Hundred Million Suns” settling at a comfortable #2.
