Jessica Mauboy – Been Waiting

This 2006 Australian Idol runner-up has been working on for her debut material for the past 2 years now. Fortunately, she’s creating much of a buzz in the Australian music scene. Her debut single “Running Back” reached #3 in the Australian Singles Charts this year. Her debut album isn’t much doing well in the charts right now but I’m pretty sure she’ll get there.
To be honest, when I first heard her sang “Running Back” I already fell in love with her voice. Yeah, her voice maybe not that special but there’s something about her voice that is captivating. Her rich, R&B voice is just charismatic in any way that whenever you hear a song sung by her, you might stop to your feet and find out whose singing or what she’s singing.

Now with a debut album under her belt, this runner-up is fighting enough to become a superstar in Australia. Her single “Burn” is already proving to be massive. Her debut album is an instant hit with much conviction delivered through her outstanding vocals. She sings of friendship, heartaches, relationships and life. Her cover of the classic “Time after Time” is a pleasant thing to hear. Notable tracks in the album are “Used2B”, “Been Waiting”, and “Empty”. It has a classic R&B feels but not that unoriginal. Her music speaks of recognition and she’s definitely worth of it. Jessica just has the potential of becoming an international R&B cross-over. It might be too early to say, but I think she has the qualities of becoming the next Beyonce.
