UK Charts: Alexandra prevents Leona from going back to #1

It’s a head to head battle between X Factor stars Alexandra Burke and Leona Lewis for the #1 spot in the UK Singles Charts this week.

Alexandra, Season 5 winner prevented Leona Lewis, season 3 winner from going back to #1 with her cover version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”. Lewis steps a spot from her #3 position last week being beaten by 2 “Hallelujahs” Jeff Buckley’s and Alexandra’s.

Beyonce bounces back into the top 3 with her single “If I Were A Boy”. James Morrison climbs to a new peak of #4 with his collaboration with Nelly Furtado “Broken Strings”.

The other “Hallelujah” plunges to #7 this week while Geraldine McQueen’s “Once Upon A Christmas Song” drowns to #8.

The only new entry in the top 40 is from 50 Cent with his latest “Get Up”.

Meanwhile, in the albums chart Take That claims another week at #1 with their latest LP “The Circus”. It managed to defeat Leona Lewis’ “Spirit: Deluxe Edition” from going back to #1.
