Jade Ewen, who releases her debut single yesterday “My Man” is officially joining the group alongside Heidi Range, who joined 2001 and Amelle Berrabah who replaced Mutya Buena when the latter departed back in 2005.
It seems it has been a shock to many as Amelle was reportedly the one quitting the group following reports that Keisha Buchanan was bullying her. The former eventually clarified the allegations stating in an interview that the latter doesn’t have anything to do with her M.I.A (missing in action) in the past few weeks.
Although Keisha left, the band will still release their seventh studio album, “Sweet 7” on November 23, 2009 alongside their newest member, Jade Ewen.
Let’s give a bit of information on how the girls started.
2000 – the girls released their debut single “Overload” with Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy as official members. The single peaked inside the top 10 in the UK singles charts and even received a Brit Award nomination for “Best British Single”.
2001 – Siobhan Donaghy officially left the band and started her own solo career.
2001 – Heidi Range officially joined the group
2002 – the girls released album number two, “Angels With Dirty Faces” and produced two UK number 1 singles.
2003 – the girls released album number three, “Three”.
2005 – the girls released album number four, “Taller In More Ways”. Mutya Buena left the group and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah
2007 – the girls released studio album number five, “Change”. It’s the first album that featured Amelle on all songs. It produced a number one hit, “About You Now”.
2008 – the girls released their 6th studio album, “Catfights and Spotlights”. It received the lowest amount of certification only settling for a silver certification by the British Phonographic Industry
