So lately we’ve got these new female acts that have an extension to their first names right? Hear Florence Welch who goes by the name, ‘Florence + The Machine’, Marina Diamandis who introduces herself with her diamonds as ‘Marina & The Diamonds’, Disney Star Selena Gomez who doesn’t like to be called a solo artist and hired a band called the Scene now collectively known as ‘Selena Gomez & The Scene’. It would be fantastic if we had ‘Lady GaGa and the Monsters’ right? Anyway, here’s a new addition to the club. Scottish group ‘Pearl & The Puppets’ formed by vocalist Katie Sutherland and her band called ‘The Puppets’.
Their sound doesn’t veer away from what Florence + The Machine and Ellie Goulding joined – it’s too sweet but utterly delightable. The band’s debut single, ‘Because I Do’ has already been used in TV ads in Australia and New Zealand for Vodafone and is described as ‘breezy, melodic-acoustic’ pop number. Judging from what I hear is that Pearl really knows how to control her puppets and produce music that would entice you as they bring us with feel-good tunes that would take your blues away once you’ve heard it. It’s basically something we’ve heard before but it’s quite nice to hear it from new people who somehow makes it better.
Pearl’s debut EP ‘Because I Do’ is slated for a May 3rd release in the UK via Island Records. Currently, she can be seen supporting Danish band Alphabeat on their UK tour. Here are the dates:
