DAILY BEAT: Timoteij – Kom

It’s rare for me to appreciate foreign language songs nowadays, except if it’s Korean or Japanese I’d dig it. Recently, I’ve discovered this four-piece girl band named Timoteij and I was curious about them because they labeled their music as ethno-pop. The band are from Sweden and they became finalists on Sweden’s Melodifestivalen this year with their song ‘Kom’ reaching #2 in the Swedish Singles Charts. I think these girls needed the people to hear their amazing music as it’s a breakout from today’s most loved pop tracks. It’s not slutty and it’s definitely something new if you’re not familiar with etno-pop.

‘Kom’ is the first single from the Swedish band and it subsequently went to #2 on their singles charts after the song was released after the Melodifestivalen contest this March. I tell you, you don’t really have to understand Swedish to fully appreciate this track. ‘Kom’ is Swedish for ‘Come’ and the track’s all about having fun, doing all the things that’d make you happy like snogging, fooling around (just kiddin’). Well you can see the translation of the track and of course, listen to it here:

Their debut CD, ‘Langtan’ is released April 28th, 2010.
