DAILY BEAT: Rihanna – What’s My Name (feat. Drake)

‘OH NA NA, WHAT’S MY NAME’ – that line has been stuck in my head for the past two days now. Thanks to Rihanna’s latest smash single, ‘What’s My Name’ off from her much anticipated LP, ‘Loud’ out November. The new track co-written and produced by hit factory Stargate is expected to be making impact as to precede the release of her album.

‘What’s My Name’ blurts out every bit of swag glittering all over the entire track. There’s so much hip-hop going on but  it didn’t blur out that Rihanna’s an R&B singer and with the help of Drake’s rapping abilities- it sort of balanced everything just right in the box. The production is amazing and didn’t mind Rihanna showing off some of her finest vocal chops towards the bridge there. ‘What’s My Name?’ seems to be another one of her effortless hits in the making.

This ladies and gents puts Rihanna back where she belongs – not in those creepy leather knickers she has been wearing over the ‘Rated R’ era.

B-Side: The Saturdays – Had It With Today

Oh yes. Another single and it means another new track from our current favourite British girl band – The Saturdays. The girls have teamed up with Flo Rida in their new single, ‘Higher’ to be released Monday and along with it is a new track titled ‘Had It With Today’ – a poptastic, bit of everything with its synthy undercurrents and magnificent vocals as usual from the girls. Not their best B-side to date but is a million times better than their previous one, ‘Ready To Rise’.

‘Had It With Today’ is included in band member Una Healy’s first solo EP back in 2006. Back then it received an acoustic/rock feel and their producers realised that it would definitely be a bore if they didn’t spice up the track a little bit. Unfortunately, even though the re-work is brilliant – you’d have a sense that the Una’s solo version before would’ve been better and suited ‘Higher’s electro bonanza. But still, I think we have to thank the girls for pulling this off and presenting us with new stuff every now and then.

VIDEO: Nadine Coyle performs ‘Insatiable’ on the Paul O’Grady Show

She always sings awesome live eh? Even when she’s with Girls Aloud- Nadine’s consistently delivering those out of these world vocals and stunning every people who hears her.

‘Insatiable’ is out in Ireland yesterday and will be released via digital stores and CD singles starting Monday in the UK (Nov. 1).

Let’s just hope Nuhdeen doesn’t suffer a very disappointing first week finish. Even though everyone thinks she’s the Wicked Witch in Girls Aloud and Cheryl’s the saint.

Music Video: Nicole Scherzinger – Poison

One word. Fierce. Miss Scherzy may just have a hit in her hands right now. Let’s just say, teaming up with RedOne is the best thing Nicole could’ve done to save her solo career. ‘Poison’ is the new single from the lead singer of the defunct yet to be renewed The Pussycat Dolls. It’s proving to be Nicole’s first ever hit if God permits.

If Christopher Nolan needs a new Catwoman, I think if he watched this video – he might just found one.

Music Video: Katy Perry – Firework

Oh well, look what we got here? It’s the brand new video from Katy Perry-Brand! In this one, she’s creative enough to exchange her whipped cream bra into an invisible wonderbra that shoots fireworks! And it looked like she’s setting a trend as a lot of people in Budapest are wearing the same thing. Magical isn’t it? Anyway, I think this is Katy’s best video yet as it embraces a lot of issues. Very touching and sense-full in terms of its story concept.

‘Firework’ is her third single off the smashing album, ‘Teenage Dream’ to be released November 15th in the UK.

DAILY BEAT: Nicole Scherzinger – Poison (Dave Aude Radio Edit)

Nicole F*cking Scherzinger is officially back. The lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls proves she’s still the hottest from the bunch as she delivers her ‘Poison’ to everyone. The spicy and deadly new track produced by hit magnate RedOne is expected to be released late November in Europe. Even though people have been criticising her ability to put up a hit – I personally think this is Nicole’s best offering yet. Fierce, spicy and tangy enough to lure our earbuds into poptastic eargasm. This and Dave Aude = perfection. You should listen to the stunning remix below:

So this new Black Eyed Single, ‘The Time’…

… Is total crap. Sorry but the same hype we got from ‘Boom Boom Pow’ and ‘I Gotta Feeling’ just got lost in this one. ‘The Time’ sounds like a not-so-good cover of Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes ‘The Time of My Life’ back in 1987 remixed into something incohesive, scattered in its 5 minutes of utter disaster. Don’t get the impression we’re not going to EVER like this but for now, let’s just put this in the recycle bin for good.

The single will be included in BEP’s new LP, ‘The Beginning’ which will see a November 30th release.

DAILY BEAT: Taio Cruz feat. Kylie Minogue – Higher

Brace yourselves for something extraordinary loves. UK R&B sensation Taio Cruz has teamed up with Australian music goddess Kylie Minogue on a follow-up to his monster hit cart after Dynamite and Break Your Heart. The track ‘Higher’ is dubbed as the new single from his platinum selling album, ‘Rokstarr’ although rumours has been spreading last week that it’s ‘Falling In Love’. It’s amazing that they almost had the same exposure althroughout the track and everything just blends in perfectly. Are we looking at another monster hit smash? ABSOBLOODYLUTELY.

The single will be released to the Australian radio circulation next week.

Single Review: Duffy – Well, Well, Well

Welsh soul singing sensation Duffy is one of the few artists that aren’t easy to like from first listen. I can vividly remember when she first came into the music spotlight back in 2008 with her debut smash single, ‘Mercy’ – from then on Duffy became a worldwide phenomenon. With numerous awards accompanying her success including a Grammy Award you can absolutely bet on it she’ll deliver exceptional music anytime.

‘Well, Well, Well’ is the first single off Aimee Ann Duffy’s sophomore LP titled ‘Endlessly’. ‘Well, Well, Well’ is no ‘Mercy’ but still has her rich, soulful unique vocals embedded in it. The track having its same structure as most of Duffy’s songs in her previous LP, ‘Well’ attracts many listeners  with its sultry, big band production incorporated with an infectious chorus tagline. Dancy, upbeat and with a little touch of soul – it’s too early to say but I think we already have another hit here.
